You will receive a confirmation SMS with a € 2.20 ticket. The ticket is valid for 90 minutes for travelling in Milan and the surrounding municipalities (those in the Mi1-Mi3 tariff zone).
Always wait for the confirmation SMS before boarding
The SMS must always be sent before boarding the means of transport. After a short time, you receive a confirmation SMS with the ticket. The ticket is already validated: this means it is valid on the date and from the time you read in the message.
How much does the ticket cost?
In addition to the ticket cost (€ 2.20), there is the cost of the request SMS, which varies depending on the network operator (currently the service is provided with Tim, WINDTRE, Vodafone. See the terms and conditions). The total amount is deducted directly from the phone credit.
Travelling on the surface network with the SMS ticket
Once you have received the confirmation SMS, get onboard. There is no need to validate it.
Entering the metro with the SMS
• Tap on the link in the confirmation SMS to generate the QR code
• bring the QR code close to the readers to open the turnstiles
• bring it close to the turnstiles again to exit
Any problems with the QR code in the tube?
Alternatively, you can print the ticket at the automatic ticket machines in the station, located near the turnstiles:
• select the option Tickets with PIN/PNR code > Ticket with SMS
• enter the PNR code found in the confirmation SMS
• use the printed ticket at the turnstile, to enter or exit
The ticket's validity time starts from when you received the SMS, even if you print it later. If your ticket has exceeded 90 minutes, it is no longer possible to print it.
If you print the ticket, the one on the SMS is no longer valid
Once you print the ticket, that is the ticket to use. The QR code via SMS is no longer valid.
In case of inspections
Show the inspector the confirmation SMS or the paper ticket, if you have printed it.
