Buy and validate tickets with the app
You can buy all types of tickets to travel in Milan, in the Municipalities of the Metropolitan City and in those of the province of Monza and Brianza that are part of the Integrated Fare System (STIBM). You can pay with a credit card, PayPal (even in 3 instalments), Satispay or MyBank. Once purchased, tickets are saved in the Tickets section. Select a ticket in the app installed on your smartphone and tap to validate it.
Enter and exit the metro with the ticket's QR code on the app
Bring the ticket's QR code close to the turnstile reader. To facilitate reading, do not rotate the phone horizontally: keep it upright and at least 5 centimetres away from the reader.
If you make multiple tube trips with the same ticket (within the time limits of validity), you must validate it on each new trip. Tap the ticket to revalidate it.
Alternatives to QR code?
Once purchased, you can also print out your ticket at the automatic ticket machines in the station, near the turnstiles:
- select the option Tickets with PIN/PNR code on the dispenser
- enter the PNR code found under the QR code of the ticket
- use the printed ticket at the turnstile, to enter or to exit
When you print a ticket already validated on the app, the validity time does not change: it remains the same as from the moment of validation.
What to do in case of checks and avoid fines
On all means of transport, you can only travel with valid tickets or subscriptions. Therefore, always validate your ticket before boarding. In case of checks, open the app and show our staff the validated ticket. If you have printed the ticket, show it and keep it until the end of the journey.
If you print the ticket, it disappears from the app
Once you print the ticket, that is the ticket to use. The digital version of the ticket disappears from the app. Keep the printed version until the end of the journey.
If you print the carnet, use the printed version for all trips
Once you print the carnet, the digital version disappears from the app. Keep the printed version as it is needed for all the remaining trips.
Do not delete or update the app while using the ticket
If you delete, reinstall, or download an update of the app, you lose the ticket you have validated and are using.
Renew the subscription from the app and activate it on the first trip
If you have an ATM card, save it on the app: it is thus possible to load it with all the subscriptions you want paying with a credit card, PayPal, or Satispay. From the Subscriptions section, you can renew recent subscriptions or purchase the fare subscription you need.
Once purchased from the app, the subscription must be activated on the first trip: you can do this by placing the ATM card on one of the totems found in all tube stations. You can also activate it at parking meters distributed throughout Milan.

- a reminder will notify you when your card or subscription is about to expire (purchased both from digital channels and from automatic ticket machines or retailers)

- download subscription receipts for tax returns
