Public transport passes are loaded onto the personal card
You can choose:
- a card on the app. It is free, you don't risk losing it and it offers you a full digital experience: your phone is all you need to travel (learn more)
- a physical card. It costs 10 euros and is valid for four years. Even with a physical card you can still buy passes on the app, but you must always carry the card with you when you travel
The personal card, like the pass, is non-transferable
The personal card has an age-related membership profile: Ordinary, Under 26, Under 27, Senior, Under 14 and Under 11.
You need a tax code to request a personal travel card

How to make a digital card on the app and travel with your phone
- Download the ATM app
- Go to the menu Buy > Travel passes > Digital Card
- Fill in the request and insert a photo
- You will receive a confirmation e-mail. Find the card in the Wallet menu of the app
Once the card has been made, you can load your first travel pass.
How to request a physical card (always needed to travel)
Create an ATM account on this website and select New Card (please, have your tax code and an ID card at hand).
Collect your physical card at self-service printers
This is the fastest way. When you apply online, choose to pick up your card at one of the self-service printers in metro stations. Enter the code you receive by email to get the card printed and ready to travel.
Do you prefer to receive the card at home?
Choose this option when you apply online. We will deliver the card within 10 days to an address in Milan, Monza and provinces. Shipping costs 5 €. Please note: make the card request by the 20th day of the month if you want to load a travel pass valid for the following month.
Conditions for home delivery of physical cards
- After the first attempt, the courier tries again in the following two working days
- If the second attempt also fails, we call or email you
- If you do not receive your card in time, you can call us on 02 48 607 607 or the courier company DELIVERY AGENCY/UNISOLUTION S.r.l. (telephone: 02 9143 70 64 , 9 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and 2.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m.).
- If the first delivery fails, the courier leaves a receipt with the number to call to arrange a second delivery
- Under-14 cards are delivered within 30 days. If you do not receive your card within this period, you can call Messengers on 02 - 66980059 from 10:00 to 12:30 and from 14:00 to 17:30 Monday to Friday. After the 30 days have passed, you can pick it up at our ATM Point in Duomo.
Other ways to make a card request
- At one of our ATM Points. You have to book the appointment from our app. You will be given the card immediately
- At authorised retailers. You can pick it up after 15-20 days: show the receipt the dealer gave you when you made your application
- In both cases, you must fill in the form and attach your tax code, passport photo and ID card
Have you lost your card, does it no longer work or was it stolen?
You can request the duplicate at an ATM Point. You have to book the appointment with the app. Bring a valid ID card and this completed and printed self-certification. The new card is issued immediately.
Please note: the receipt of the travel pass is not accepted to travel.
How much does a duplicate card cost
The duplicate has no cost when:
- the damage is due to a defect in the card
- the damage is due to a malfunction of ticket machines, validators or turnstiles
- the card is damaged after being retained by a ticket machine
In all other cases, a duplicate membership card costs 15 euros. That of an Under 14 card costs 10 euros. If you have an Under 11 card, you can print the duplicate from any printer.
Is your card about to expire or has it expired? Until 31 March 2025 you can renew it free of charge for another 12 months. - How to do it
If, on the other hand, you prefer to make a brand new physical card that is valid for another 4 years, you can request it from 2 months up to 10 days before it expires. And if it contains a travel pass that is still valid, we transfer it to the new card. The renewal costs 10 euros.
- If your card has not yet expired, you can renew it online from two months before it expires. Log on to areariservata.atm.it and select Reprint an expiring card. You will receive it at home in 10 days with a shipping cost of € 5. Cards are delivered to an address in Milan, Monza and the provinces, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- If your card has already expired, you have to apply for renewal at one of our ATM Points (you have to book the appointment via the app)
Digital cards in the ATM app never expire.
Under 14 and Under 11 passes can only be requested online
Girls and boys under the age of 14 travel free of charge. All they have to do is show a valid ID card. They can also use an Under 11 card or an Under 14 card. The cards can be requested by a parent or guardian from this website (register or log in, then go to New card). Both cards are free of charge.
- The Under 14 membership card is delivered to your home at no cost
- The Under 11 card can be printed from any printer
On Trenord lines (in the territory of the Integrated fare system STIBM) minors under 14 years of age can only travel with an identity card if they are accompanied by paying adults. They must also have an Under 14 card if travelling alone.
